The Breathe Foundation was never created to point fingers at anyone, we simply wanted to create greater awareness on a wide range of issues!
We are a platform where same minded people can come together, presenting substantial & subsequent issues - in the hope and with the belief that we can find a solution. All together, by only sharing our thoughts about our Home, we can make a difference.
In the end we all have the same Mother, Pachamama, called Earth. For us and future generations we need to start to treat it like that again, because the fact is, sooner rather than later, we're going to run out of mineral resources. Our industrialized society will have polluted the last bit of fresh air, water & soil. We will face a world where the last tree has been felled, the last river has been poisoned, the last fish caught from the ocean. As the saying goes, "...eat your money then."
We have arrived at a time where we don´t even care about ourselves anymore - Body, Mind & Soul. We are happy to live in the little puppet scenery that was build for us because it´s more comfortable not to think. We don´t realize anymore how much we are controlled & lead by simply money, paper and politics! We have to break out of our insulated cocoons and transform to thinking human beings once again!
Just lately by watching this amazing woman, Annie Leonard, with her project The Story of Stuff, it is difficult not to fall in love with her dedication to opening our eyes with her passion to start an intellectual revolution! So get ready to become a part of it!
We would recommend you to take 6-minutes of your hectic day to sit down, BREATHE, and watch an interview with Mia Davis from the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, especially if you´re a woman! When you watch this, hopefully you start to think a little more about which Personal Care Products to use and how little responsibility major corporations take for our health. It´s shocking how many toxins are put into Beauty Products that we putting "onto" our skin, our body's biggest organ, absorbing it into our body day, after day, after day,....!
We're not just talking about lipstick, hairspray, eyeliner and deodorant, we're also talking about baby shampoo, soap, toothpaste, body lotion and make-up in general - both male and female.
The belief in the government that it is looking after us through regulation and health effect concerns, or that anybody takes care of us just because it´s their job is often misguided! Whose Job is it exactly? Who are "they"? Who is regulating the effects of these products to our health? The government? The corporations? Seriously!!?
In the absence of Government regulation, a lot of trustful people think that Cosmetic Groups take great care about their products, testing them thoroughly before they sell it on to us. Though better in Europe than in the US - the truth is that the commercial bottom line often weighs far higher in their list of concerns than the ongoing or long term health effects ever will.
Even if some group would test every single product, the cocktail and secondary compounds created by combining different products and their long term toxic effects have never been looked at - yet alone tested. To be fair, this is a pretty tough project to take on anyway you look at it!! So why not make it very simple by not putting any toxins in these products in the first place!?
With all of the different issues we face as a result of our Industrialized society, it may sound a strange place to start. But if you understand that the products we use everyday to make us smell and look good in the long term make us sick - it open your eyes to many other areas of concern.
Big Thanks to the Coordinator of The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics - Mia Davis, Annie Leonard & their inspiring Team for that strong effort to bring this important message out, spread the word & hopefully start the wake up call!
