Ä Filmer's View - Bordered by the highly threatened Atlantic Rainforest, the coastal town of Itacaré in Bahia State, Brazil, hosted Breathe/Respira Brazil in May, 2010. An intensive 10-day program brought an eclectic international crew together to participate in various programs from construction of the Créme Skate Bowl and Atlantic Rainforest Institute Foundation building, to reforestation projects, seminars, school visits to music and art happenings. Ä Filmer's View is a chance to experience an incredible awakening in the jungles of Brazil.
As part of the Breathe/Respira Brazil event in Itacaré last May, a highly motivated nine man camera crew volunteered their time to the event to follow the various activities, visits and direct action projects. Tasked with creating day edits while collectively pooling footage for a greater documentary, main cameraman Mone Monsberger, has produced this 37-minute edit covering the event from start to finish giving a behind the scene feel of the area, the people, the activities and the event.
Held over the 15th to the 25th of May in the Atlantic Rainforest based around the town of Itacare, the Breathe/Respira Brazil event attempted to bring an eclectic group of international participants together to take part in a 10-day program focused on direct action projects and raising awareness for local and global issues. Fusing music, art, seminars, field trips, school visits and direct action projects such as building a skate park, a Foundation Building for the Atlantic Rainforest Institute, work on the hospital and much more, no single cameraman could cover everything on the program.
Mone's main focus for the event was covering the visiting Créme Skateboards Pro team of Thomas Webber and Patrik "Brownie" Pittl, in town to donate the Créme Skate Bowl and equipment to the Town of Itacare hand built for the event in 5-weeks. By introducing some of the pooled footage he has created a sequential view of what happened over the the 10-day event.
Made possible by the event partners, Swatch, Créme Skateboards, the EOG Association for Conservation, and locally based Atlantic Rainforest Institute (ARFI), and visited by over 100 local and international participants over the 10-day event, generous donations of time were essential to creating the event.
The never tiring documentary crew, consisting of Mone Monsberger (Ästhetiker), René Eckart (Blickinsfreie), Götz Werner & Nicolas Löffer (Drop In), Taylor Clifton (MTC Films), Criggi (Equal), Bani Silva & Hernan Vilchez (Power Cultures) and Andre Moraes (2Irmaos).
Breathe/Respira Brazil - Ä Filmers View is a view from Mone's experiences drawing from selected footage created over the course of the event from the documentary crew.
The Breathe Foundation would like to thank all filmers, presenter, volunteers, partners, musicians, artists and participants who donated time and energy towards creating a platform for the exchange of ideas.
