The second annual Breathe Festival 2010 continued on May 22nd with a series of Breathe Workshops presented by Swatch.
At a beautiful beach house the Breathe Festival participants were first treated with a great Bahian style BBQ, enjoying the clear skies right at the ocean. The first workshop was held by Joseph Schoninger, Founder of Beautiful Days, about “Cradle-Cradle-Design”. Cradle-Cradle Design is a closed loop design principle, where products are designed using no toxics in the manufacturing and production process. Any waste and effluents are defined as food for the environment and eco-system and helps nourish the soil, ocean and all species.”
The second workshop was held by Cib Simoes, Owner of EM Technologies. The Brazil agricultural expert has developed with Japenese partners a microbiotic technology, that has multifunctional use, such as cleaning households, riverstreams, factories, skin care and health care. “It is one of the most interesting organic technologies that can be used in a variation of fields to help sustain human life more healthy and without use of any chemicals.”
Today, May 23rd, is again centre stage for a lot of action at the local beach of Tiririka. At noon the local Itacare Surfing Association hosts the “Breathe Whitewater Classic” with local entrants in the grom and pro class. The idea is to integrate the local community with the visitors and attendants of the Breathe Festival, including the Swatch Pro Team, with personalities such as worldclass snowboarder Anne-Flore Marxer, professional skier Anne Kongsgaard and the Breathe Foundation team lead by professional snowboarder Nicolas Mueller.
The surf contest is then followed by a Skate Demo at the Crème Skate Bowl, with local skaters and pro skaters performing at the Bowl, which happens to be the closest skate park next to the ocean in all Brazil.
