While some could find inviting a mermaid to the Breathe/Respira event a little on the bizarre side, Hannah Fraiser has been an activist for Ocean awareness for many years. Hannah as a activist currently working with Surfers For Cetaceans and Whaleman Foundation to end the slaughter and captivity of Whales and Dolphins. Hannah Fraser is a professional Mermaid, ocean environmentalist, performance artist and model. Working as an artist and model for many years, she now devotes her time to creating exquisite handmade mermaid tails and traveling the world performing as a mermaid for film, television, advertising, events and environmental activism. She and David Rastovich, (pro-surfer) organised the Taiji 'paddle out' in the killing bay of Japan where thousands of dolphins are slain annually. Hannah continues to use her unique link to the ocean to inspire and educate people on the importance of marine life. She has swum with whales, dolphins, sharks, sting rays, sea lions, turtles and many other creatures in the open ocean. On her first day at the Breathe/Respira festival, she delighted the local kids assembled for the sports and activities day by making a surprise appearance.
